More than 200 illegal gambling machines will be destroyed in Limpopo today. The operation that led to the seizure of these vehicles was a joint effort between the provincial government and law enforcement agencies.
This was also done in an attempt to encourage responsible gaming. Ministry of Economic Development MEC Rodgers Monama says illegal gambling is draining the province of revenue.
“November is what we call Responsible Gambling Month, and that’s why, working together with law enforcement, we were able to successfully seize 214 illegal machines, depriving our province’s economy of its intended revenue. These illegal cars, most of them are on the sidewalks of our towns and villages.”
