Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Secretary General Marshal Dlamini says he is confident his party will take control of Ditsabotla Local Municipality, located in Lichtenburg in the North West.
Dlamini and his deputy, Poppy Mailolo, were campaigning for their party in the municipal area.
The besieged municipality will hold by-elections scheduled for next month.
The by-elections are taking place as a result of the dissolution of the municipal council two months ago. The board was dysfunctional and unable to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities, which adversely affected service delivery.
During his door-to-door campaign, Dlamini boldly declared that they would win.
“We are confident, and what gives us confidence is that the residents of this municipality themselves have recognized that the problem is not in individuals, the problem is in the organization. So they made a decision that an organization called the ANC will never govern this municipality and the only alternative is the EFF. You see some of them have left the ANC. We are optimistic, we know we will succeed, this is where we are going to put the first EFF mayor, we have no doubt about that.”

Dlamini says they have already registered all their candidates in all 20 constituencies they will be contesting.
“We are applying for all 20 elections and we can already say that we are the only organization that has registered our candidates. So, in terms of timing, we are very efficient when it comes to managing the organization. Our candidates are all registered with the Ministry of Education and Culture. We will put up their posters. We are on the ground.”
