Seven people have died in a multi-vehicle crash on the M35 at Isipingo, south of Durban.
A minibus, a truck and several cars collided in the accident.
Emer-G-Med paramedics spokesman Kyle van Reenen says police are investigating the cause of the crash.
“At the moment, we can confirm that seven dead people have been reported from the scene. It is reported from the scene that the accident involved a minibus, a heavy-duty vehicle and several cars. Accordingly, the necessary authorities will conduct the necessary investigation.”

The taxi driver was convicted of an accident in 2012
A Northern Cape taxi driver has been jailed for causing a car crash in 2012 that killed six people.
Aabakwe Molapisi began his prison term on Thursday after being found guilty by the Kuruman Regional Court. The State successfully argued that Molapisi failed to obey traffic rules and caused the fatal accident on the R31 Hotazel road.
Provincial NPA spokesperson Mozhalefa Senakotsane said: “The Kuruman Regional Court has sentenced Aabakwe Molapisi, a taxi driver from Kuruman town, to five years in prison. The accused is charged with 6 counts of premeditated murder. He is accused of committing an accident in 2012. As the NPA, we believe that this sentence will act as a deterrent to other road users to follow the rules of the road and be vigilant at all times, especially now that we are approaching the festive season.”
