Exports of grain from Ukraine have decreased – SABC News

Ukraine exported almost 16.2 million tons of grain in the 2022/23 season, which is 31.7% less than the 23.8 million tons exported during the same period of the previous season, data from the Ministry of Agriculture showed on Monday.

Including almost 6.3 million tons of wheat, 8.6 million tons of corn and 1.3 million tons of barley.

After a nearly six-month blockade caused by the Russian invasion, three Ukrainian Black Sea ports were unblocked in late July under an agreement between Moscow and Kiev brokered by the UN and Turkey.

According to the ministry, 3 million tons of various grains were exported in 20 days of November, which is 29.7% less than in the same period of November 2021.

The government said Ukraine could harvest between 50 and 52 million tonnes of grain this year, down from a record 86 million tonnes in 2021, due to land loss to Russian troops and reduced harvests.
