Cape Town’s annual festive lights switch-on event will return on Sunday night after a two-year hiatus.
The annual extravaganza will see around 80,000 people attend the free concert on the Grand Parade with a star-studded line-up including Zakes Bantwini, Mi Cassa, Emma Adams and Will Linley.
Mayor’s Committee on Safety and Security J. P. Smith says they will be deploying law enforcement and police officers to ensure the safety of visitors.
“We would like to remind residents and guests that there will be zero tolerance for any weapons, alcohol, drugs or other prohibited substances at the event. We are aware that in previous years there have been some elements who have tried to bring anti-social behavior to this event and these people should be warned that our staff on the ground will not hesitate to act swiftly against them,” says Smith.
