CAPE TOWN – The Western Cape Department of Education has pledged to build more than 800 new classrooms.
The project will soon serve at least 26,000 students.
This is possible thanks to an 830 million rand increase in the department’s infrastructure budget this financial year.
MEC Education David Mynier said: “This number includes three mainstream schools and new schools, five new mobile schools, 645 new classrooms and 7 fast track school bill projects. We have also announced the appointment of up to 1,143 additional teachers. …”
