The SPCA has seized three pit bulls believed to have mauled a Port Alfred woman to death.
The SPCA in the Eastern Cape has seized three pit bulls believed to have mauled a woman to death on Sunday morning.
Police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidoo said the 37-year-old woman who was attacked on her way to work has been identified as Zimhita Gaga.
Initially, authorities were unable to identify the breed because the dogs were not at the location where Gaga was found.
Two men witnessed the dogs attack Gaga on Alfred Road. They alerted the local guards, who called the police.

Gaga suffered severe injuries to her face and upper body. She died before she could get medical attention, Naidu said.
“At this stage, the investigation remains an inquiry,” she said.
The owner of the dogs lives in the area.
News24 reported last week that a 15-month-old toddler died after being attacked by a pit bull at a farm in East London.
