JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane said they will make room for late applications to accommodate parents who were unable to apply for grades 1 and 8.
The MEC was speaking during a media briefing on the placement process on Sunday.
He noted that a lot of work has been done to distribute students to schools of their choice.

Last Wednesday, the deadline for accepting students ended.
But Chiloane said there is a provision for late applications, but some parents have not received notices to that effect.
“We are accepting late applications from December 20 to January 20. Gauteng is a province where we have a lot of migration and you see some parents will bring their children into the province, so we’re pretty much opening up for them and for those who may have missed the deadline.”
The MEC said they experienced a few glitches during the online application process, but the process was going well and they met the deadline this Wednesday.
