‘Spectacular:’ Adele fans thrilled Vegas show finally begins – SABC News

“Incredibly nervous” Adele kicked off her Las Vegas gigs on Friday, 10 months after she angered fans by canceling a show at the last minute.

People who attended the chart-topper’s first ‘Weekends with Adele’ show at Caesars Palace said they were thrilled to finally see the Grammy-winning singer live on stage and seemed to forgive her for the delay. The audience greeted her with a standing ovation.

“Thank you for coming back to me,” said the singer.

Fans said the show was intimate and they were moved by her performance of hits including ‘Hello’ and ‘Easy on Me’.

“Adele brought it like she always does,” Nicole Quinn, 49, said. “I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I jumped, everything. And she too.”

“It’s amazing. Spectacular. She was the bomb,” said Sally Hoffman, a fan from Philadelphia.

The British singer faced backlash in January when she said in a tearful video that she couldn’t perform concerts because half of her crew had COVID-19 and the pandemic was causing shipping delays. The concerts were supposed to start the next day, and some fans were headed to Nevada or there when they heard about it.

Shannon Tapper, 55, said she was “incredibly disappointed” at the time, but after watching the show on Friday she felt it was “probably worth the wait”.

“She was amazing. I have been to many concerts. I can’t even begin to describe how good it felt,” Tapper said.

On Thursday night, Adele shared a photo of herself on Instagram during a rehearsal, saying she was “very emotional, incredibly nervous but can’t sit still because I’m so excited.”

Known for ballads of heartbreak and nostalgia, the 34-year-old returned to music last year with her fourth studio album, 30. It is nominated for the coveted Album of the Year award at the 2023 Grammy Awards. She is due to play in Vegas until March.

“She was wonderful,” said Alisha Wilburn, 39, of Tennessee. “And I can’t believe she’s nervous. Like, why is she nervous about us peasants? We just bask in her glory.”
