The family of the late Tsegafatsa Pule say they are not surprised that Ntutuko Shoba is appealing the sentence.

Shoba returned to the High Court in Johannesburg. In July, he was sentenced to life in prison for masterminding the murder of Pule, his ex-girlfriend.

Pule was eight months pregnant when she was killed in June 2020.

Her uncle Tumisang Katake says, “Don’t think I’m surprised by Mr Shoba’s tricks, we saw it coming. And I hope that at the end of this day or at the end of this process, we can go back to the process of grieving and reconciling that Tseg is gone, without these interruptions.”

In January 2022, convicted murderer Muzi Malepan revealed how he and Shoba’s alleged mastermind planned to kill Pule. Malepain admitted he was paid 70,000 rand to hit a pregnant 28-year-old girl.
