JOHANNESBURG – Police in Gauteng have opened a criminal case against a 60-year-old Benoni woman who allegedly called for black people to be banned instead of pit bulls.
Police spokeswoman Brenda Muridilli said the 60-year-old made the speech in a widely shared WhatsApp voice note.
In a voice recording, a woman defends pit bulls amid calls to ban the breed as pets.
She said the case was opened at Boksburg North Police Station and was transferred to Putfontein for further investigation.
“The suspect, aged in his 60s, was arrested and released the same day with a warning to appear in court on March 27, 2023,” she said.
