JOHANNESBURG – Police Minister Bheki Chele says the latest crime figures show aggression and violence in South Africa are at alarming levels.
Cele publishes crime statistics for the period from July to September of this year.
During this period, the police opened 10,000 rape cases and more than 4,300 criminals were arrested for crimes against women and children.
Chele said the police had successfully tracked down 410 rapists and 68 of them had been sentenced to life imprisonment.
