DURBAN – African National Congress (ANC) presidential candidate Zweli Mkhize has sought the blessing of the Nazareth Baptist Church leader ahead of the party’s 55th national elective conference in December.

Mkhize is aiming to take the party’s top job at next month’s conference. He was among those who joined thousands at the Enyokeni royal palace in Nongoma in KwaZulu-Natal North.

He launched an intense campaign ahead of December, vying with incumbent ANC President Cyril Ramphosa for the top job.

Mkhize asked influential church leader Mduduzi Shembe to help pave the way for him.

“I would like to inform you that I have a journey that I will be embarking on after being requested by various branches of the ANC. I am before you like a child to ask for a blessing so that all will be well.’

Mkhize promised to end crime and unemployment.
