DURBAN – A senior member of the Amazulu royal family has been assassinated.
Prince Mbongiseni Zulu was shot dead in Nongoma in northern KwaZulu Natal on Thursday.
The shooting of another confidant of the Misuzulu king, kaZwelithini, came a day before the Umgidi ceremony scheduled to take place at the Enyokeni royal palace in Nongoma.
A royal source confirmed Eyewitness news fatally shot Prince Mbongiseni Zulu – who was one of the confidants of King Amazulu Misuzulu and one of the senior Zulu princes.
He was also part of the inter-ministerial committee for the coronation of the King of Missuzulu.
Zulu was shot dead by unknown assailants in Nongoma.
In September, Dr. Induna Dumisani Khumalo was shot dead outside his home after leaving a reed-dancing ceremony he was attending at Enyokeni’s royal palace.
Meanwhile, the royal family is set to hold the 9th Umgidi ceremony with the Nazareth Baptist Church in Eniokeni.
