Zungu was unveiled by Sundowns on Saturday afternoon, ending the speculation surrounding his future that had been making headlines for weeks.
The 29-year-old midfielder has been without a club since his departure from Amiens at the end of last season, but Sundowns were always strong favorites to sign him.

Now, according to Mokwena, the deal between Zungu and Sundowns was difficult, but he thanked the former Bafana Bafana representative for his patience and trust during the negotiations.
Mokwena said Zungu’s offers were more attractive than what Sundowns were offering, but the midfielder still decided to return to Hlarkop.

“I also want to thank Bongani for his patience and trust because he had other proposals and Bongani decided to come to us and he was very patient,” Mokwena told reporters.
“There have been more offers than what we’ve been throwing, but sometimes it helps when there’s a really good relationship between the coaches and the players, because then it helps to want to come and work with the coaches and be part of the set-up.
“So I want to thank Bongani’s mother and his family as well for the support they have given him in trying to make sure he chooses us over the other options he had,” Mokwena added.
