“It was funny,” he told “Entertainment Tonight” about people thinking he went under the knife. “This sucks. I almost died, but we’re fine.”
While promoting his new film The Greatest Beer Run, Efron put rumors to rest as he was actually injured. The actor reportedly broke his jaw and had to have it wired shut after he slipped in a pool of water outside his home.
Someone close to him told him that word on the street was that he had plastic surgery.
“My mother told me,” he said. “I never read the internet, so I don’t care.”
Viewers can see his face alongside that of actors Bill Murray and Russell Crowe in the new film, in which he plays a man who travels to Witten in 1967 to bring beer to his childhood friends who are fighting on the side of the army during the war.
It premieres September 30 on Apple TV+.
