Two patients were killed and a police officer was seriously injured at New Somerset Hospital in Cape Town on Saturday night.

Police say a 40-year-old man allegedly took a firearm from a police officer and fired several shots.

Novel Patelva’s spokesman says Sea Point police took the 35-year-old suspect to hospital for medical treatment when the incident occurred.

“Two patients at Cape Town Hospital were killed and a police officer was injured after a man at the hospital on Saturday night grabbed a police officer’s firearm and fired several shots. C-Point police took the 35-year-old suspect to Somerset Hospital for medical treatment when a 40-year-old man at the hospital took a firearm from a police officer and fired several shots. C-Point police later disarmed and arrested the suspect. The identities of the victims have not been determined yet. Meanwhile, a policeman is fighting for his life in hospital, ”Patelva said.
