Two men accused of murdering Collins Municipality Mayor Chabane Moses Maluleka are scheduled to appear before the Malamulele Magistrates Court in Limpopo for a second time on Wednesday.

Shumani Nemadodi, 42, and Avhatakali Mulaudi, 42, also face another charge of attempted murder after they allegedly shot and injured Maluleke’s 18-year-old son in Sikundu village in Malamulele last month.

At their first appearance, the case was adjourned so they could get legal representation.

The case was originally supposed to be heard in the Saselemani Magistrate’s Court, but a security threat was identified.

He was then taken to Malamulele Magistrates Court, about 28km from Sikundu.

The defendants are also charged with possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as aggravated robbery.

As a result, the number of accused has been reduced from three to two as a third suspect cannot be positively linked to Maluleke’s murder.
