Bail applications for two of the three men accused of murdering Hilary Gardee are expected to resume on Tuesday in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court in Mbambela, Mpumalanga.

Philemon Lukhele, Mduduzi Gama and Sipho Mhatshwa are charged with kidnapping, rape, murder, perverting the course of justice and conspiracy to commit murder.

Lukhele and Gama will appear in court on bail applications after Mhatshwa was denied bail two weeks ago.

Police in Mpumalanga have confirmed that they have arrested a fourth suspect linked to the case who is yet to appear in court.

Hilary was the daughter of former EFF General Secretary Godrich Gordy.

Her body was found in a forest plantation outside Mbombela after she was reported missing.

Sipho Mhatshwa refused bail in the video below:

Conspiracy to kill a witness

Nelspruit Magistrates’ Court heard last month that the three defendants plotted while in police custody to eliminate a witness.

Investigating officer Donald Mkhalifi says two witnesses told police Mhatshwa confessed to killing Gordy.

He says Mhatshwa also told them about the part of the body where Gardi was shot. Mkhalifi says they also identified the spot where she was killed and dumped.
