Eskom blamed “sudden shutdown” of three generating units at Kendal Power Station to decide on a dramatic increase in load shedding from 10am on Tuesday

As a result of the trips, Eskom lost almost 2 GW of peak generating capacity, causing the transition from Stage 2 to Stage 4 in short order. Eskom was in the process of curtailing the load shedding that reached Stage 4 over the weekend.

Phase 4 power outages will continue until at least 5am on Thursday morning, Eskom said in a brief statement released via Twitter, promising more details later in the morning. — (c) 2022 NewsCentral Media
