Eskom blamed “sudden shutdown” of three generating units at Kendal Power Station to decide on a dramatic increase in load shedding from 10am on Tuesday
As a result of the trips, Eskom lost almost 2 GW of peak generating capacity, causing the transition from Stage 2 to Stage 4 in short order. Eskom was in the process of curtailing the load shedding that reached Stage 4 over the weekend.
The sudden outage of three units at Kendall Power Station (1920MW peak generating capacity) has forced phase 4 load shedding from 10:00 THIS morning until 05:00 Thursday morning. A full statement will be published shortly
