There is only a week left until the deadline for applications for the 2022 marathon, the Comrades Marathon Association reported on Tuesday.

The world’s oldest ultramarathon returns to the roads in August after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Potential athletes are invited to apply for this year’s race by Monday next week. The association says that 15,226 applications have been received so far.

95th The Comrades Marathon is expected to take place on the 28thth August and, as usual, it will be attended by both South African and international runners.

Marketing and Communications Specialist Association Delaine Cools says: “Runners only have six days to get their applications for the 2022 Comrades Marathon. The reception ends next Monday 16th May. This year’s race will take place on Sunday, the 28thth August 2022, starting at the City Hall of Pietermaritzburg and ending in 12 hours at the stadium “Moses Mabhida” in Durban. We urge our runners to receive their applications. ”
