N3 tollway operations manager Tina Dugra says all northbound lanes heading towards Gauteng are closed.

JOHANNESBURG – The N3 North has been closed to traffic between Frankford and Reitz in the Free State after two trucks collided and caught fire.

N3 tollway operations manager Tina Dugra says all northbound lanes heading towards Gauteng are closed.

Doorga said the recovery of both vehicles is ongoing.

“The entire northbound carriageway is currently closed and traffic is being ‘counter-flowed’ using the southbound carriageway,” Doorga said.

She said only one lane was open to motorists due to the crash on the N3 northbound on Thursday, which could cause further delays.

“Furthermore, road users are reminded that as a result of yesterday’s serious truck accident and vehicle fire, only one northbound lane remains open to traffic in the area of the Heidelberg Traffic Control Center.”
