Western Cape Transport Minister Daylin Mitchell has welcomed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the recent shooting incidents of Intercape bus drivers.

A 28-year-old guy was detained in Klapmutz. In April, an Intercape bus driver was shot and killed while driving the bus. In March, another Intercape bus was fired upon, injuring the driver. Mitchell says the criminal elements must be brought to justice.

“I am grateful for this breakthrough and the progress SAPS has made in the investigation. The Western Cape Government has adopted a whole-of-community approach to support the South African Police Service and law enforcement agencies in any way possible to bring those responsible for crime to justice. We will follow this case through the courts and continue to monitor the SAPS until there is a successful conviction,” Mitchell added.
