Minister of Tertiary Education, Science and Innovation Dr Blade Nzimande has appointed Mr Johannes Mganodi Zwane, Deputy Director of Corporate Services at Mthashana TVET College, as Acting Director of Coastal TVET College from 1 September 2022 for six months or until the end of the post. is filled continuously, whichever comes first.

Mr Zwane has been identified as a suitable person with the necessary skills and experience to act as Principal of the Coastal TVET College.

Mr Zwane’s appointment follows the end of the college’s management period until the end of August 2022. This action is part of the college’s return to normality and stability. Minister Nzimande is also pleased to note that the department has also started the process of appointing a permanent director.

Among the immediate tasks of the Acting Principal will be to establish mechanisms to address the concerns that have been expressed by stakeholders regarding the state of the College’s functionality. All of these issues will be fully considered as we move the College towards the appointment of permanent senior management, including a College Principal.

We encourage all stakeholders to work closely with Mr. Zwan in resolving all outstanding issues at the College.

Minister Nzimande wants to invite all stakeholders including staff, unions and students to cooperate with the Acting Principal to ensure that the academic project is not disrupted.

The Minister thanks Mr. Zwana for his willingness to serve the College and wishes him well in restoring good corporate governance to the College.
