A television mini-series dramatizing the life of the deceased Shane Warne was described as “beyond disrespect” on Thursday by the children of the Australian cricket legend.

The king of spinning died of natural causes at a luxury resort in Thailand in March at the age of 52, sending shock and grief to millions of fans around the world, as well as celebrities and politicians.

Barely six months later, Australia’s Nine Network, which employed him for years as a commentator, announced this week that it was planning a two-part film “Cook” will air next year.

“Over two big nights, Warnie will pay fitting tribute to one of the greatest Australians of all time, the Australian larrikin who lived and loved it big in 9Network’s must-see 2023 drama event,” – said the broadcaster.

Warne’s eldest daughter Brooke, 24, made her anger clear.
“Do any of you respect dad? Or his family? Who has done so much for Channel 9 and now you want to dramatize his life and the lives of our families 6 months after his death?’ she said in an Instagram story.
“You are beyond disrespectful.”

Warne’s other daughter, Summer, 20, also wrote on Instagram: “I’d really like to know what goes through people’s minds to think it’s normal?”
She called the Nine Network “shame”.
“Have some respect. How disappointing is it, only 6 months after his death and you’re (yes) already trying to make money off of it?”

Credited with reviving the art of leg-spin, Warne took 708 Test wickets as part of the dominant Australian side in the 1990s and 2000s before becoming a respected commentator.
