The new mayor of Collins Chabane Municipality in Malamulele, Limpopo, says he has enough experience to run the institution.

Shadrack Maluleke was elected during a special meeting of the Malamulele Municipal Council on Thursday.

He replaces the late Moses Maluleke, who was shot dead at his home in Shikundu village, outside Malamulele, last month.

Mayor Maluleke also served as a councilor and speaker in Thulamela Municipality.

He was the manager of technical services for the municipality of Collins Chabane.

Maluleke says he has experience in local government.

“Since 2006, I have served as a councilor in Thulamela Municipality following the creation of Collins Chabane Municipality in 2016. After the recent local government elections, I was entrusted with the responsibility of the head of the finance portfolio. I was re-elected as Public Affairs Adviser, where I was tasked with being the Technical Services Portfolio Manager.’
