Police say two teenage boys have drowned in Seshega Dam near Palakwane in Limpopo.
Police spokesman Malesela Ledwaba says divers managed to retrieve the body of one of the two boys.
The search for the second body continues. Ledwaba says the boys, aged nine and 12, were apparently crossing the dam using homemade flotation devices when they lost their caps and drowned.
Ledwaba says the use of homemade devices is common in the area.
“The information we have is that the boys are swimming and crossing the dam using white foam props as flotation devices, which is said to be a common practice in the area, divers managed to recover the body of one of the parents boys. conscience to ensure that children are not swimming unsupervised and should be careful around this dam as several drownings have been reported in the area in the past.’
