Cricket South Africa announced on Sunday morning that the Proteas will be without fast bowler Duane Olivier, who has been ruled out of the three-match Test series against England.

Dwayne suffered a Grade 2 right hip flexor tear when he was injured during a four-day tour match against the England Lions at The Spitfire Ground St Lawrence in Canterbury.

Team doctor Hashendra Ramjee explained: “Duane was in significant discomfort with his right hamstring late in the game on the third day of the four-day tour.

“After clinical evaluation, he was referred for an MRI, which revealed a grade 2 tear of the right soleus muscle.

“Due to the extent of the injury, he has been ruled out of the three-match Test series against England and will return home where he will begin his rehabilitation with the Gauteng Central Lions medical team.”

The Proteas have not named a replacement.
