President George M. Weah has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Liberian journalist Philip N. Wese, who died Wednesday, September 14, at the John F. Kennedy Hospital after a long illness.

President Weah, according to a release from the Executive Mansion, expresses his deepest condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the deceased.

Philip N. Vese (PNW) served as managing editor and publisher of The Inquirer for many years until his death. He was also a lawyer and a strong defender of media freedom.

The Liberian leader said the death of Philip Wese leaves a deep void in the Liberian media and thus urged Wese’s family and friends to take comfort in the Lord.

May his soul rest in complete peace and eternal light shine upon him.
