The President of the Republic, Nana Addo, Dankwa Akufa-Addo, on Saturday, August 6, 2022, commissioned the newly constructed administrative block of the North Eastern Regional Coordinating Council in Naleriga as part of a working visit to the North Eastern region.
The North-Eastern Regional Coordinating Council Administrative Block is among six new administrative structures being built for the six newly created regions, and the second to be completed for use after the commissioning in September 2021 of the North-Eastern Regional Coordinating Council Administrative Block .
The administrative complex was built at a cost of seventeen million six hundred forty seven thousand five hundred forty three cedis and seventeen pesewas (GH¢17,647,543.17). It will house all departments of the Western Regional Coordinating Council and other agencies to ensure effective and efficient governance of the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Akufa-Addo said the creation of the new regions would “bring the government closer to the people and also accelerate the process of social and economic progress in the various regions”.
At the same time, he noted that “we cannot build regions without creating institutions that will make regional development successful, and this is what we have started to do with this construction.”
President Akufa-Addo continued: “The Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Decentralization Hon. Daniel Botwe was the very minister who oversaw the regional restructuring and therefore now has the added responsibility of making sure that the decentralization, the devolution that we have seen in the governance of our state, is solid and robust. land”.
Touching on other key projects in the North East since its inception, he noted that “eleven (11) road projects have been completed in the North East during my time and sixty one (61) are ongoing. Reference has already been made to the work that has been done on the town roads to Naleriga and Gambaga and to Walewale, the bridges being built in the area and the developments in the various important road links that exist in the region. »
In conclusion, the President said: “But in all this there is one equally important source of joy, and that is the exaltation we have made for one of Nayira’s daughters; Member of Parliament for Walewa Lariba Zuwera Abudu, who is now the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection. She is a hardworking woman, and I have no doubt that she will justify the trust I have placed in her.”
President Akufo-Addo also commissioned a new regional office of the Youth Employment Agency in the North East region, in addition to others already completed in Oti, North West and Ahafo regions.
