Port Alfred woman mauled to death by dogs on her way to work – SABC News

Authorities have not released the identity of a 37-year-old Eastern Cape woman who was walking to work on Sunday morning when she was allegedly attacked by dogs.

Two men who witnessed the attack ran to a security guard who called the police.

Eastern Cape Colonel Priscilla Naidoo says the woman was walking along Alfred Road when she was attacked.

“It is believed that at approximately 07:45, two men who witnessed the attack ran up to a security officer who was nearby and reported the incident. A security officer contacted the police, however when the police arrived the woman was lying on the side of the road badly injured.’

Naidoo says the woman suffered serious injuries to her face and upper body.

“There were no dogs anywhere. She died without receiving any medical attention; an investigative case has been opened for investigation.”

SAPS Port Alfred detectives are looking for the owner of the dogs. The number and breed of dogs are unknown at this time, and police believe the two males who witnessed the incident may provide important information to the investigation.

Anyone who may know the owner of the dogs, as well as the two males, is asked to contact SAPS Port Alfred, Lieutenant Colonel Johann Reddy on 046 604 2405 or 082 332 8794 or to the nearest police station.
