Gauteng Police have confirmed that two suspects linked to a shooting incident in Nomzama in July 2022 have been arrested.
One of the suspects was arrested in Johannesburg on Thursday by the National Criminal Intelligence Service, who was later linked to the Soweto pub shooting.
“The suspect has been handed over to the Gauteng Homicide and Robbery Squad for further processing. He then led the team to one of his accomplices who was arrested in the Northern Cape on 23 September 2022,” Brigadier Brenda Muridilli said.
“The team proceeded to arrest two more suspects connected to the case of murder related to the incident that took place in Kliptown in October 2021, when a musician from Lesotho was killed. He is also connected to another murder and attempted murder that occurred in Orlando in May 2022.”

A fourth suspect was arrested on an arrest warrant for a double-homicide incident that took place in Dornkaup in 2021 where two Basotho nationals were killed.
All four suspects will appear in Orlando Magistrate Court on Monday, September 26, 2022.
The shooting occurred on July 10, 2022, when a group of armed men reportedly entered a local tavern and began shooting indiscriminately, killing 15 people.
Talking to Newzroom Africa After the incident, Gauteng Police Commissioner Elias Mavela said preliminary investigations indicated that the armed suspects, who fled in a Toyota Quantum, opened fire on patrons at the pub when “they were having fun”.
“Suddenly they heard gunshots…others thought it was from outside and then after seeing some people falling dead inside, others pretended that they too were wounded or dead,” he explained.
“A person or people just shot randomly so as not to target anyone. It is clear that these men were determined… they wanted to kill. For what reason, no one knows [but] we will continue to investigate until we find out the motive.”
