“TUMI TLADI PLANNED SUICIDE”
A friend of rapper Tumi Tladi, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Sunday World that he took his own life by gas poisoning. A police officer also confirmed to the publication that he took his own life, although his family insisted that he was not suicidal and suspected foul play.
Hitmaker Basadi’s cause of death remained a mystery after he was found dead in his posh townhouse in Northriding, north of Johannesburg, on July 10.
A media personality and friend, who did not want to be named, also told the publication that the late rapper bought several liters of lithium and consumed it through pipes that he connected to a 10-kilogram bottle.
“Do you remember that he was found dead on Sunday? But he bought things on Thursday from a nearby shop and consumed them on Sunday. It seems he planned it. But what’s amazing about it is that he didn’t show any signs of depression before he took his own life.”
A police officer, who also wished to remain anonymous, said preliminary investigations indicated that the artist had poisoned himself with gas at home.

WHY THE RAPPER’S FAMILY IS SUSPECTED OF Foul Play
The police officer also said he was surprised when Tladi’s parents said they suspected foul play and asked the investigative team to ask a toxicologist to investigate the cause of his death.
“The report will show whether there was suffocation from the fumes he consumed or whether he was killed. Detectives have already procured the services of a toxicologist to carry out investigations and will know the exact cause of his death by Friday next week.
From there, they will decide whether to change the investigation to murder or to continue the investigation,” said the policeman.
When police arrived at the rapper’s residence last month, they were led to Tladi’s bedroom, where they found his lifeless body.
“On arrival they found Miss Victoria and an SB security officer and took them to a bedroom where a man was lying on a bed with clear plastic under his head. And there was also a 10kg bottle of pipes and there was no sign on the man and he was pronounced dead by the medical examiner (yes) Mr Neil Van Der Merwe and the body was taken to the mortuary,” the statement said.
The artist’s father, Peter Tladi, told the publication that they are still waiting for the autopsy and the investigation is not complete.
Peter added that his son did not show any signs of depression before his death.
