Orlando Pirates are on the verge of concluding a deal with AmaZulu on the transfer of key defender Tapello Xoki – and if all the small details are smoothed out, the player will join the Buccaneers next season, understands SABC Sport.
This is clear evidence that DStv Premiership plans are underway as clubs begin preparations for the upcoming registration period, which will actually open on July 1st.
The 27-year-old Xoki has been using the purple overlay for Usuta and has been consistent over the past two seasons … also scoring a few goals, most of them from the penalty spot when Benny McCarthy was still head coach and Amazulu finished an impressive second place in 2020. / 21.
McCarthy was fired in March.
According to those who are aware of the information about the inevitable deal, Ksoki still had at least three years under a contract with Usuta.
This suggests that the Pirates will have to either pay a transfer fee or offer one or two players in exchange to settle negotiations, but SABC Sport also understands that both sides, however, have in principle agreed to switch.
If the move goes as expected, Xoki will be added to an experienced lineup of central defenders consisting of captains Happy Jelle, Olissa Nda, Ncikelela Nyauza and Tulani Hlatschwayo, who has not been fair in recent months.
And, perhaps, by the time he joins, they will become reigning champions of the CAF Confederations Cup – the Buccaneers will meet Moroccan RS Berkana in the final of the interclub tournament on Friday at Godsville Akpabia Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
Chairman Sandil Zung, who asked to comment on the expected move of one of the great players of the club in Xoki, which has been working at AmaZulu since 2014, declined to give details or make any comments on recent events.
