Orlando Pirates coach Jose Rivera believes he can help the team overcome its shyness this season.

The Spaniard is keen to see his side produce more of an end product despite his side’s climb to the top of the table.

Can Orlando Pirates score goals?

Orlando Pirates have scored just four goals in six matches, coming back from two draws, defeats and three 1-0 wins.

Riveiro said: “My role is to find ways, wherever and whatever happens and whatever the opponents offer, to find the goal changes.

“To avoid the odds, here’s what we do. Our job is mainly to avoid chances from the opponents and create chances when we have the ball and that is what we do every week and in every training (session).

“So following that logic, if we create more, we’ll have more opportunities to score.

“It’s a game of probabilities, if we need to create more chances we will.

“But then again, it’s not just a striker these days to score goals.

“Sometimes you have a striker who is in a great moment (of form) and everything he touches goes into the net, but all of a sudden they have a moment where it’s not,” Riveriro said while speaking to the media.

“Think about the number of players we usually have on the field. Forget about positions, think only about profiles.

“So there are a lot of players capable of scoring. Even when we are in standard numbers, we have players who can score, not nines.

“As I said before, they don’t have to carry the pressure of scoring every game anymore.

“Sometimes they score and sometimes they create space, like in the previous game against Royal AM when Eva Nga made a nice mark at the first post and brought two players to him and then Hota came and scored.

“What Hota did was important, but what Eva Nga did to create this space was also important. This is a collective game,” the coach added.
