Former Johannesburg Mayor Mfo Murano is expected to be honored with a memorial service on Friday.

Maran died of his injuries at Milpark Hospital on Wednesday, just over a week after he was involved in a car accident.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, among many others, paid tribute to the former mayor, describing him as an entrepreneurial and highly skilled leader who has dedicated his talents to the people of Yoburg.

“We will miss his contribution to his political house, the African National Congress (ANC) and to the development of Johannesburg as one of the most important economic and cultural centers of our country and continent. May his soul rest in peace, ”Ramaphosa tweeted.

Ramaphosa said the death of the former mayor was a devastating loss.

“It’s a deep cut because he was for us not just a comrade, he was a friend, he was a brother. We had so many memories together and it’s a shame he’s gone. He leaves a great legacy. “

Leaders of other political parties also paid tribute to Murano

The Inca Freedom Party (IFP) paid tribute to Meran’s “friendly, sympathetic and sharp” personality, saying he had never shied away from the leadership’s leadership.

“He really was a shrewd leader committed to serving all communities in Johannesburg. He had a mission and a plan to speed up and improve service standards in the city, and he continued to do so until his untimely death. ”

The current mayor of Johannesburg, Mfo Phalace, said her rivalry with Murano was limited to politics, adding that he was a man she would call a friend.

Former Johannesburg Mayor Hermann Mashaba also expressed condolences to Murano’s colleagues, friends and family.

“Although we didn’t always negotiate politically, he was a husband, a father, a brother, a cousin and a son.”

Murano’s funeral will take place on Sunday at the Kwabhekilanga sports ground in Alexandra.
