Johannesburg Metro Police say Klipstruit Valley Road in Orlando, Soweto will be closed for three months due to severe corrosion of the stormwater structure under the road.
The main road in and out of Soweto and the main Rea Vaya bus route will be closed from Tuesday until 14 November 2022 for urgent repairs as continued use of the road will put motorists at risk.
JMPD spokesperson Halani Fikhla says, “Emergency repairs are necessary to ensure the safety of all road users using this stretch of roadway. Motorists are advised to avoid this stretch and use Morocco and Nancefield roads, Nkude Drive in Duba, Mtipe Street and Kumala Road to return to Klipspruit Valley Road. We urge motorists to be patient while these repairs and road closures are carried out.”
