JOHANNESBURG – City of Joburg Department of Public Safety David Tembe has promised residents of El Dorado Park that police will increase their visibility following the killing of two teenagers.
On Thursday, Tembe met with the community camped out outside the local police station amid fears that criminals are on the rampage.
Residents who have pitched tents outside the station since Monday said the area is under siege by gangs, drugs, guns and corrupt police.

Tembe heard a number of complaints as residents shared their pain at having to constantly fight crime on their own.
The MMC said his department would deploy more officials to monitor known hotspots of gang violence in the area.
“We will have 12 officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department on patrol in the area for the next three months,” he said.
Residents hailed Tembe for taking advantage and assuring them that the structures were in place.
“Today I want to say thank you to the HMC of Public Safety. Let’s welcome MMC Tembe today!” said one resident.
