Ndavi Nokeri was crowned Miss South Africa 2022 at the pageant finals held on Saturday 13 August at the SunBet Arena in Time Square, Pretoria.
This year, there are no longer two second places, but only two best ones. Therefore, Miss SA 2022 will compete in all three international pageants. If she is unable to do so, her role will be taken over by the runner-up. Ayanda Thabete from KwaZulu-Natal finished second.
So who is your new Miss South Africa? Here are five things to know about Ndavi.
1. NDAVI FROM LIMPOPA
Our new Miss SA hails from the town of Tzaneen in Limpopo. She said it was a turning point for her to be chosen to represent her country.
“For a girl from Gabaza to be seen, embraced and chosen to represent her country is a groundbreaking moment. A moment that reaffirms that our dreams do come true, no matter where we come from,” she said in her speech.
“I am grateful to the women who have gone before me, who have broken the glass ceiling so that I can stand here today, empowered, fulfilled and ready to proudly fly the South African flag wherever I go and shine a light of hope to all South Africans. “, she continued.
2. SHE STUDIED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA
Ndavi qualified in BCom Investment Management from the University of Pretoria.
3. NDAVI IS AN ASSET MANAGEMENT FIRM CONSULTANT
At the time of her coronation, Ndavi was working as a consultant at an asset management firm in Cape Town.
4. SHE IS 23 YEARS OLD
The beauty queen is 23 years old.
5. NDAVI WILL ADVOCATE FOR EQUALITY IN EDUCATION
During her reign, the new Miss SA will advocate for educational equity. She also revealed that her failure inspired her to grow and achieve.
“When I was growing up, I had a hard time with mathematics at school. With each bad result, I started to believe and accept that I just couldn’t do it, until I decided to approach it with a different attitude,” she said.
“I decided that I am the author of my own story, and so I redefined myself as a woman who is capable of doing whatever she sets her mind to with perfection. It’s an attitude I carry with me on every journey, and it’s shaped the person I’m proud to be today,” she continued.
