Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema is to lead the party’s Women’s Day rally in the Eastern Cape.
The province has seen a spate of gender-based violence in recent years, including the killing of University of Fort Hare student Nosielo Mthebeni.
She was killed last year in the city of Matatiele.

In a village near the city, two men also allegedly beat a woman to death.
The EFF leader is expected to highlight the plight of women not only in this town but across the country.
Recently, there have been a number of cases of gender-based violence across the country.
After Nasichelo Mthebeni’s murder, some residents of Matatiele called for the return of the death penalty, saying it was the only solution to combat gender-based violence and femicide.
