The President of Liberia has taken with serious concern a recent report by the US Treasury Department, which imposed specialized sanctions against three of his officials under the Global Magnitsky Act.

President Weah considers the allegations against officials contained in the report to be serious.

As a result, President George Mane Weah immediately suspended the named officials, Minister of State Nathaniel McGill, Managing Director of the National Port Authority Bill Toovey and Seimu Solicitor General Serenius Saifus, to allow them to face an investigation.

The President also appointed the first deputies of suspended officials who will fulfill their duties.
