Kenyan President-elect William Ruta has advised those affected by the election results to go to court.
He addressed the media after the Republican Election Commission declared him the winner of last Tuesday’s election.
Kenya’s vice president defeated more than five-time challenger Raila Odinga in a closely contested presidential election.
Ruto says that Kenya is a democratic country.
“The election results are announced by the arresting officer. Not declared by the commission. The officer supporting the president is Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati in this case.
“[Any] a person [who has] questions about this election, they know what to do. It won’t be the first time. We are a democratic country. We have built strong institutions that can take on any challenge,” added Ruto.
