Eskom is implementing Phase 3 on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
This week, South Africans are expecting more intense power outages. Eskom is implementing Stage 3 of the load reset on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
Energy said it would resume with a load drop in Phase 2 tonight from 5pm to 10pm, but was forced to move it to Phase 3 on Monday and Tuesday nights due to further loss of production capacity. The load reset will then be reduced to stage 2 for the rest of the week.
“Eskom will continue to closely monitor the system, adjust and report any changes if necessary. Since last night, there have been breakdowns in one unit at the Tutuka, Camden and Majuba power plants,” – said in a statement Eskom.
He added that while one generator set was put back into operation at the Hendrina and Majuba power plants today, it still has 2,094 MW of generating capacity due to scheduled maintenance and another 17,640 MW due to breakdowns.
“Eskom appeals to all South Africans to help limit the effects of load shedding by reducing electricity use and disconnecting all non-essential items,” Eskom said.
He urged consumers to come to us sparingly, especially from 5am to 9am and from 4pm to 10pm.
