Readers who remember Dire Straights singing “I want my MTV” will know that the event has developed a reputation over the years for highlights from Madonna, Britney, Beyoncé and Kanye.

It’s only fair to expect that along with the Moonperson trophies at the VMAs, there will be some memorable moments.

Here’s what you need to know about the show.

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Owners

Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J and Jack Harlow will share hosting duties.

Performers

Bad Bunny, Lizzo, Eminem and Snoop Dogg, BLACKPINK and Panic! at the Disco among the scheduled performances of the artists.

Nominees

Nominees include Doja Kat, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift.

Styles and Dojo Kat are tied for the most nominations with eight, followed by Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X with seven each.

Minaj is set to take home the 2022 VMA Video Vanguard Award, while The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be named Global Icons.

The show will begin at 8:00 PM ET and will be simulcast on MTV, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, CW, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1.

MTV also offers a free 24-hour pass to live TV.

Before the show

The pre-show performances and red carpet interviews will air live on MTV beginning at 6:30 PM ET.
