A clinical psychologist and spiritual healer for South African singer Kelly Khumalo Aneli Siswana shares the three approaches he uses to guide her on her healing journey.
According to Showmax, Siswans uses the following approaches to help Kelly on her healing journey.
1. THE ORGANIC CONNECTION BETWEEN KELI AND SIVAN
Siswana said Kelly found him when she was looking for a therapist for her own personal healing journey. This coincided with the launch of her reality show Life with Kelly Humal. Thus, the therapist-client relationship was organic.
“So in the first season, it was mostly based on the idea that she came to therapy for her own journey, just like any other person. Then there was an opportunity for me to grow into that role where it became a television thing,” he said, according to Showmax.
Siswane also felt that being apart of the show felt organic because it is unscripted.

2. HEALING OLD WOUNDS – KELLY AND HER MOM
Siswana showed that the healing of old wounds is important in therapy. He approached it not only with Kelly, but also with her mom, Ntombi.
“These sessions have helped me to be a very grounded therapist,” Anel shared, adding that before each therapy session, he goes through a process of ukupahl and prayer to ask for guidance for the day.
“I knew the cause of Kelly’s pain was her relationship with her mother. So for that to work, I can’t individualize her story without someone who is supposedly bigger in the story, which is the mother,” he continued.
3. CONSOLATION IN DISCOMFORT
Siswana believes that experiencing discomfort is key to your healing journey.
“I’ve had to hold space for both of them. . . . I always tell them, ‘Go and sit in the discomfort of being uncomfortable in your relationship,’ because that very discomfort will be the place for what’s to come.”
