Professional athletes seem to have become synonymous with infidelity – and this week’s scandal surrounding Springbok star Elton Jentzis is another example.
The rugby player is believed to have been caught cheating on his wife Iva Jantjis with team nutritionist Zeenat Simji.
A number of scandals are associated with the name of Elton Jantjis, who is called the South African “Tristan Thompson”. But he is not the first and far from the last athlete who was caught cheating on his partner.

CHEAT SCANDALS: SPORTS ICONS PLAYING ON THE FIELD?
If you have ever watched an episode of a British drama series Wives of football players you will find out how common infidelity is among professional players.
And one of the biggest scandals fans have witnessed is that of former soccer star Wayne Rooney. The former Manchester United star infamously cheated on his wife Coleen with several women.

A mirror reports that in 2002 Rooney met with three prostitutes. In 2010, he continued to bed prostitutes and strippers, including a threesome with Jennifer Thompson and Helen Wood.
The football legend later said in a documentary titled Rooney:
“As silly as it sounds, I sometimes visited massage parlors and visited prostitutes. I now deeply regret it and hope people realize that it was the kind of mistake you make when you’re young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature.’
In 2009, golf icon Tiger Woods, who was married to Elin Nordegren, admitted to having affairs with more than a dozen women. The high-profile scandal led to him losing lucrative endorsement deals as well as his reputation as a “family man”.

He later said in a televised statement: “I thought I could get away with anything I wanted. I felt that I had worked hard all my life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt entitled. With money and fame, I didn’t have to go far to find them. I was wrong. I was stupid.’
But unlike the aforementioned sports icons — or Alton Jentzis — NBA player Tristan Thompson has never publicly admitted to cheating.
Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian’s father has been spotted with multiple women over the years despite being in a “committed” relationship. His latest scandal led to him being named the father of a love child by fitness expert Marali Nichols in 2021.
Tristan and Khloe were in a relationship at the time.
CLOSER TO HOME: ELTON JANGJIS AND OTHERS
Like Elton Jantjies, the late Springbok player Joost van der Westhuizen also allegedly cheated on his wife, singer and actress Amor Wittona.
However, Joost spoke about his escape in 2009 News24, the former Boca captain “confessed his sins” after having an affair with fellow athlete Charmaine Weavers (née Gail) for several years. It was revealed that the affair began while Joost was still married to his first wife, Marlene.
In the same year, Joost also admitted that he was the man in a sex video with stripper Maryleese van Emenis.

In 2015, Graham Smith’s then-wife Morgan Dean hinted that he had cheated on her during their brief marriage.
In accordance with TshisaLIVE, a blonde woman from Cape Town named Justine Haddon was linked to the former Proteas captain.
Dean – a singer from Ireland – tweeted: “When you know the third person’s name… You always know it…”
Dean also tweeted that she had been “informed” about her partner’s alleged affair. She also claimed Graham mistakenly sent her a text intended for his divorce attorney.

Former Bafana Bafana star Mark Fish has also been accused by his ex-wife Louie of being a “serial cheater”.
The book tells everything under the title Walking In My Choos, Louis described how she allegedly caught Mark kissing Pauline Branaghan, the wife of his former Bolton Wanderers team-mate Peter Branaghan.
In accordance with News24, Louis revealed that Mark also had “sex games” with a journalist, a prostitute, a student and one of her friends. She also claims that Mark had an “insatiable appetite” for strippers.
