The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued an extremely severe fire warning to residents of the eastern Northern Cape, central and western Free State, North West Province and western parts of Limpopo, and southwestern parts of Gauteng. hazardous conditions on Saturday.
“Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions, fires can develop and spread rapidly, resulting in property damage and possible loss of life and/or life,” the weather service warned.

Gauteng: Good and warm weather. Expected UVB sunburn index: Extreme.
Mpumalanga: Partly cloudy in the east, initially cloudy with morning fog on the heights, in the rest of the areas – good, warm.
Limpopo: Partly cloudy in the east where it will be cloudy at first with morning mists along the escarpment areas, otherwise fine and warm but hot in the western Bushveld.
Northwest: Fine, windy and warm to hot weather, partly cloudy during the day.
Free State: Cloudy with morning fog in the east, elsewhere partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot, isolated showers and thunderstorms along the Lesotho border in the evening.
Northern Cape: Cool along the coast, otherwise fine and cool but partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot in the far east. The wind on the coast will be moderate to fresh from the south.
Western Cape: It will be cloudy at first in the north-eastern areas, partly cloudy in other areas, partly cloudy in the western areas. The wind on the south-south-east coast is moderate to fresh, on the south coast – east-north-east, in the afternoon it will weaken and change to the south-east. Expected UVB sunburn index: High.
Western half of the Eastern Cape Province: Partly cloudy and cool in places along the coast between St Francis and Port Alfred with a chance of light rain in the morning. It will be warm in places in the north of the country. Winds along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly, reaching a strong easterly from Algoa Bay, becoming a light south easterly in the west during the afternoon.
Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy along the coast and inland with a chance of light rain in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm in the NW interior. The wind on the coast will be moderate to fresh northeasterly, increasing from mid-afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal: In the morning in the inland areas, it will be foggy in places, in other places it will be partly cloudy and warm, but it will be cool in the south, isolated thunderstorms will occur during the day. Winds along the coast will initially be light southerlies north of Richards Bay, otherwise northeasterlies moderate to fresh. Expected UVB sunburn index: Moderate.
