Eskom has announced the suspension of permanent power cuts this weekend. He says this is due to improved production capacity and lower weekend demand.
The utility says its emergency generation supplies are also fully restored.
Last week, Eskom introduced phased outages. They rose to stage four and were later reduced to stage two.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha issued a warning: “While we can suspend load shedding for now, it is important to note that the generation system is still vulnerable to breakdowns and load shedding may be required. We therefore urge all South Africans to continue to use electricity sparingly.”
