The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) seems to have decided that, whether or not it will, it will donate 50 million rand to ANC comrades in Cuba.
In this way, the socialist and communist links established during the anti-apartheid struggle continue … and are honored even though the world – and this country – has changed dramatically since the collapse of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s.
Previous deals:
In addition to spending hundreds of millions to train some of our doctors in Havana, the ANC has also committed to paying just under 3 billion rand for a project to have Cuban mechanics repair our worn-out military equipment.
Then there were the several hundreds of millions we spent on Cuban medics to help with the Covid crisis, not to mention SA National Defense Force spent 228 million rand illegally procuring the miracle drug from Cuba.
Despite a minor setback this week when the Constitutional Court refused Dirco permission to appeal directly to it against an interim injunction obtained by AfriForum to stop the gift, the ANC is committed.
Despite the enormous pressing needs in this country… Charity begins at home and obviously in Cuba. this is the house where the heart of the ANC is.
