During the off-season, when Chiefs welcomed highly-rated striker Ashley du Preez to Naturena for the first time, it was reported that the out-of-favour Happy Mashiane could be offloaded in the process.
Transfer talk suggested that while Du Preez was headed to Natureana on a cash-plus-player basis, Happy Mashiane could head to Stellenbosch where he hopes to get more playing time after his career recently stalled in Amakhosi.
However, after the intervention of Chiefs chairman Kaiser Motaung Sr., the Chiefs apparently struck a deal that was said to be a cash-only deal for Du Preez.
According to the report in KickOff.com at the end of May, sources suggested that Mashiane, 24, would remain at Turin as he still features in the plans of newly appointed head coach Arturo Zwane.
However, that may not be the end of the story as Mashiane, who made over 20 appearances for Chiefs in the 2020/21 season, is now apparently at the center of talks between the Swallows and Chiefs over a possible deal rent.
“Happy is ready to go. He wants to play but doesn’t get the chance. He believes that going on loan will be beneficial and will give him an opportunity to prove himself,” the source quoted Phakaaati on Monday.
Chiefs appear to be still active in the transfer window
Chiefs officially confirmed last week that they have added Edmilson Gabriel Dove to their squad for the 2022/23 season on a two-year deal with the option of a further year.
